Get Your Sweat on for the Second Annual National Fitness Day

Classpass, Athleta and Girls on the Run Partner to Empower People Across the Country

 

NEW YORK, NY. April 11, 2018 – This year, Saturday, May 5 will mark the second National Fitness Day in the U.S. Launched just last year among countless other quirky holidays such as National Pizza Day, founder Kim Bielak was amazed that despite such a rise in boutique fitness classes, marathoners, and fitness-specific influencers over the past decade, the U.S. still lacked one day dedicated to fitness.

 

“Of all holidays filling our social feeds, this felt like one that truly merited recognition,” says Bielak. “It’s a real chance to inspire people to get active and lead healthier lives.”

 

This year, ClassPass, Athleta and Girls on the Run will all come together for the first time to promote National Fitness Day around the country.

  • Sweat it out in the Big Apple – National Fitness Day will be hosting a central event in partnership with ClassPass and Athleta overlooking the sweeping views at the YOTEL terrace in Manhattan Saturday morning, including workouts, massages, an exclusive Athleta pop-up shop, and post-class margaritas in honor of Cinco de Mayo.

 

  • Connect with Girls on the Run – Girls on the Run councils will be working with local partners to host donation-based workouts to further support the organization’s youth development program.

 

  • Local events – Find a fundraiser or other event in your city through the official National Fitness Day Map, or even plan and submit your own!

 

Finally, National Fitness Day is encouraging people everywhere to share their own fitness stories across social media using the hashtag #NationalFitnessDay to inspire others by example.
